Cal delivered an insightful and entertaining general session keynote speech in front of a packed audience at the 82nd annual Truckload Carriers Association Convention on Monday, March 2nd in Kissimmee, Florida.
The speech called upon the importance of rallying around teammates and the principal of being counted on within an industry that companies and consumers alike, depend on.
“It made me feel really good that you could be counted on each and every day by your teammates to play,” Cal said. “I think that’s the principal and value that all of us should hold onto. Many people count on the trucking industry and in some ways, you don’t want to let anyone down. You can rely on me, you can count on me. I’ll be there.”
Cal shared numerous stories and anecdotes from his Hall of Fame baseball career as well as lessons of perseverance from the diamond to the business world, what it takes to become an “Iron Man” in your own business, and the eight keys to success in business, from leadership to loyalty.
Wendy Miller from the Trucker News Channel caught up with Cal after speaking to the crowd at the TCA convention to talk trucking and why his record-setting 2131 moment is a lot like being a truck driver.
